COVID-19: Traveling to the Czech Republic, September 2021
07.09.2021 / 21:00 | Aktualizováno: 07.09.2021 / 21:32
As from July 12, 2021, Canada is considered a country with a low risk of COVID-19 transmission (green country). Canadian citizens may enter the Czech Republic for any reason (return to home, tourism, travel to work or for study, family visit, etc.). The current rules are explained in this text and the attached tables.
However, Canadian citizens traveling from Canada or another green country to the Czech Republic are obliged to:
- possess a filled-in Public Health Passenger Locator Form
AND
- undergo an antigen test 48 hours or less or a RT-PCR test 72 hours or less prior to departure to the Czech Republic
OR
- undergo an antigen or RT-PCR test within 5 days from the entry to the Czech Republic
The website of the Czech Ministry of Interior provides a comprehensive summary of all entry precautions.
There are no direct flights between Canada and the Czech Republic. Please check first with transit countries whether you will be allowed to travel to the Czech Republic and back to Canada.
Please check also in advance with your airlines and transit countries for their sanitary regulations (testing for COVID-19, vaccination, etc.)
The Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic has not included Canadian provincial vaccination certificates in the list of Recognized Vaccination Certificates from other countries yet, as they do not comply with the EU digital certifite standard and do not provide the possibility of remote verification (eg QR code), for more information visit the the Ministry of Health website here. The hope for the future is the digital vaccination certificate announced by the Canadian government.
There is no obligation of self-isolation after the arrival to the Czech Republic from Canada.
The same set of rules applies to third country citizens with permanent residence or long-term residence (at least one year) in Canada.
Canadian passport holders are not required to obtain visas to enter the Czech Republic for a short-term non-profit stay (up to 90 days in any 180-day period within the Schengen area).
