Slovak economy minister Pavol Rusko said the Slovak government would not sell its 66% stake in Slovenske Elektrarne (SE) if the bids do not meet its expectations. The minister did not reveal any details about the expectations. The investors which plan to buy SE with its nuclear power stations, have until 21 July to submit binding bids. CEZ and Russian RAO UES said earlier they want the whole SE. Italian Enel is also reportedly interested in SE’s nuclear assets. German E.ON and Autrian Verbund are interested only in conventional assets.
We consider the minister’s statement as pre-privatization attempt to influence decision-making of the investors. The news should not have an impact on CEZ.
