Energy regulatory office (ERO) announced changes of regulated electricity prices for 2004. Household electricity prices would increase on average by 3.8% and electricity prices for small businesses would rose on average by 3.1%, The ERO explained the increase in electricity prices by higher prices from CEZ, higher prices of system services and higher costs related to purchases of electricity from renewable resources.
The announced price increases are for the segments, which are still subject to regulation – households, small businesses. The other segments are already liberalized. However, we also cannot rule out the possibility that CEZ would decide not to increase its end-user prices by whole 3.8%, as we saw when CEZ took over the distribution companies in October 2003.
