Ambassador Hupcej visited Kiribati

Ambassador Milan Hupcej has recently accomplished his diplomatic mission to Kiribati.

On November 29, 2022, at the beginning of his visit, Ambassador M. Hupcej met Hon. Michael Foon, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of Kiribati to discuss state of the relations between Czechia and Kiribati. Secretary Foon presented the program of the visit of Ambassador Hupcej. Also were discussed the some issues related to the cooperation between two countries on international arena.

Later during the day, Ambassador Hupcej presented his credentials to H. E. Taneti Maamau, President of the Republic of Kiribati, as the 2^nd Czech envoy accredited to this Pacific country. On that auspicious occasion both sides expressed interest in further development of bilateral relations in various fields, despite of geographical distance. Czech Republic appreciated Kiribati’s principal position on supporting UN resolutions on denouncing the Russian aggression on Ukraine. Also was noted exchange of support on candidature to the international bodies. Czech side expresed its readiness to support Kiribati development goals, mostly through various projects financed by the EU and UN.

During total four days of the official visit to Kiribati, Ambassador Hupcej was received by Hon. Dr. Teuea Toatu, Vice President and Minister for Finance and Economic Development (MFED), Hon. Dr. Tinte Itinteang, Minister for Health and Medical Services (MHMS), Hon. Tabeta Teakai, Minister for Employment and Human Resources (MEHR), Hon. Mikarite Temari, Minister for Lines and Phoenix Islands Development (MLPID), Hon. Tekeeua Tarati, Minister for Information, Communications and Transport (MICT) Hon. Bootii Nauan, Minister for Commerce and Industry & Cooperative (MCIC).

At the conclusion of his stay in Kiribati Ambassador Hupcej met the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Ms. Tangariki Reete.
