COVID-19: Traveling to the Czech Republic during the pandemic
01.06.2021 / 18:00 | Aktualizováno: 06.07.2021 / 15:17
As of July 9th, 2021 the updated rules for entry or return to the Czech Republic apply.
With effect from Monday June 21, 2021, the USA is ranked among the list of countries with a low risk of COVID-19 ("green country").
From Friday, July 9, 2021, passengers from the USA will be again obliged:
- to undergo an antigen test 48 hours or less or a RT-PCR test 72 hours or less prior to departure to Czechia; with a negative test result,
- to possess the filled-in the Passenger Form.
There are no direct flights between the US and the Czech Republic. Please check first with transit countries whether you will be allowed to travel to the Czech Republic and back to the USA.
Please check in advance with your airlines and transit countries for their sanitary regulations (testing for COVID-19, vaccination, face covering, etc.)!
If you stay longer than 12 hours in the last 14 days prior to the arrival to the Czech Republic in a country that is not considered by the Czech Ministry of Health as a green country, there are specific additional obligations prescribed by the Protective measure of the Ministry (testing, obligation to complete a Public Health Locator Form, self-isolation).
For more information, please visit the website of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic and pay special attention to Chapter 2. Entry into the territory of the Czech Republic.
There is a link to the table prepared by the Ministry of Interior called "Rules for entry and return to the Czech Republic under the Ministry of Health Protective Measure - 3rd country citizens non-residing in the Czech Republic or EU+".
Before the trip from the USA to the Czech Republic, check with the airlines and find their conditions for accepting passengers on board and the conditions for transit at transfer airports (possible need to submit the test result for COVI-19, wearing respiratory protective equipment, etc.).
A basic overview of the currently valid rules of entry of persons into individual countries of the world is available on the IATA website.
Current conditions for entry into the Czech Republic can be found on the website of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic. Inquiries about the conditions for entry can be sent to the e-mail address of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic: cestovani.covid19@mvcr.cz. For telephone inquiries: +420 974 801 801.
Current COVID-19 measures are published on the website of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. Questions about COVID-19 and vaccination are answered by the coronavirus information line on +420 226 20 1221.
Travel information can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
