Czech Republic at the 53rd session of the UN Human Rights Council

The 53rd session of the UN Human Rights Council takes place from 19 June to 15 July. Czech Republic participates as voting Member State.

The Czech Republic is currently a member of the Human Rights Council until the end of 2023. This year, the Permanent Representative Václav Bálek also serves as the President of the Council. The summer session of the UN Human Rights Council lasts four weeks. The agenda includes over 40 debates and the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review outcomes of 13 countries, including the Czech Republic. Nearly 30 resolutions are expected to be discussed. The Czech Republic, together with EU countries, will table resolutions on Eritrea and Belarus. It will also support, among others, a resolution on cooperation with Ukraine, the human rights situation in Syria, civil society space, digital technologies, and violence against women and girls.

In the interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the right to education, the UN Youth Delegates of the Czech Republic will speak on behalf of the Czech Republic.
