Did you know that in 2024, in the EU, nearly a quarter (23.9%) of people aged 16 and older had a disability (activity limitation)? The numbers rise sharply with age – while only 7.1% of those aged 16-24 reported a disability, the share was 72.3% among those aged 85+. Did you know that 28.7% of people with disabilities were at risk of poverty or social exclusion? Or that 30% of young people with disabilities (aged 25-34) completed higher education?

The online publication Disability statistics gathers all such key indicators in one place. It presents statistics on education, financial circumstances, poverty and housing conditions. There is also information on leisure, online activities and a specific focus on elderly people who require assistance.

Each year, 3 December marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Find out more about the lives of people with disabilities in the EU with our Disability statistics.
