On 18 November 2024, the Head of the Representative Office, Jakub Šlosárek, together with Munif Treish, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the hospital operated by the Palestine Red Crescent Society – Al Bireh branch, formally concluded and handed over the project of a tied financial donation. In its framework, the hospital received new equipment supplied by Czech companies.
The project was launched last year and was funded by the Czech Republic's Reconstruction Programme in the Middle East region for the period 2022-2024. As part of the project, the hospital has acquired medical equipment for several of its departments - birthing chairs, newborn cots and phototherapy lamps are already in use in the gynaecology and obstetrics department and the neonatal ICU, while other equipment includes a steriliser or an operating table, which has already been installed in a newly established operating theatre.
The Palestine Red Crescent Hospital in Al Bireh (a conurbation of Ramallah) was established as a maternity hospital in 1987 and treats one hundred thousand patients a year. It is currently completing an extension to the hospital that will allow it to increase its capacity and expand the medical services provided to its patients.
