In the coming months, the Czech diplomacy will send new ambassadors to Argentina and Germany.

"Jarmila Povejšilová will represent Czech diplomacy in Buenos Aires and Jiří Čistecký will go to Berlin. In both cases, they are experienced career diplomats and I wish them both every success in their new positions," said Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský.

Jarmila Povejšilová started working for the Czech Foreign Service in 1995 and has focused her career on Latin America. At the Prague headquarters, she worked mainly in the Americas Department, then for many years she worked at the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU in Brussels. Since 2020, she has been Deputy Director of the Americas Department and Head of the South America Unit.

Jiří Čistecký joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994, repeatedly headed the Central European States Department and worked, among others, at the embassy in Vienna. From 2019 to 2023, he headed the Czech Consulate General in Istanbul and between 2023 - 2024 he was Chargé d'affaires a.i. at the Czech Embassy in Moscow.

Both of these heads of embassies already have the approval of the receiving country, the so-called agrément. Jarmila Povejšilová should take up her post in Buenos Aires in September, while Jiří Čistecký will leave for Berlin in early October.
