From December 4th to 7th, 2023, the Czech Start-Up Week program took place, involving five Czech tech startups offering innovative solutions in AI and software development. These startups are in various stages of entering or considering entry into the American market.
The intensive two-day program, hosted by SOSA, a renowned Israeli-American incubator with a longstanding presence in the New York tech scene, exposed the Czech firms to the local tech ecosystem and current trends. They gained valuable insights into the financial and legal aspects of entering the U.S. market and received practical advice on marketing, fundraising, and pitching.
The Czech companies applied these experiences during a pitching and networking event organized by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York and CzechInvest at the Bohemian National Hall. The participants were welcomed by Radek Rubeš, the State Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The Czech firms presented their business plans to around fifty guests, including potential investors and venture capital funds. The participating companies included Ellio, Mebster, OpenWise Solutions, Pulsar Solutions, and Superface.
Thanks to the program, the Czech firms received tickets to the AI Summit held on December 6th and 7th at the Javits Center in New York, one of the largest trade shows in the AI field. The event provided Czech companies with insights into hot trends in AI and facilitated numerous networking connections.
As part of the week-long program, Czech firms also engaged in discussions with NYC EDC, a state non-profit organization for the development of the New York economy, and KBC Bank, a longstanding partner of the Czech Consulate General, offering relevant financial services to firms. The Czech companies also learned more about the opportunities provided by the PROPEA program to support economic activities abroad.
Czech Start-Up Week was organized by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York in collaboration with the CzechInvest Office for the USA, with financial support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, as part of projects supporting economic diplomacy.
