The Czech exposition at the All Energy Australia 2022 trade fair, which took place on 26-27 October 2022 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, attracted attention thanks to the technical maturity of the products of Czech companies. They presented the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to achieve energy savings or progressive methods of processing waste that does not go to incineration or landfill, but is made into materials that can be used mainly in construction. The exhibition was held as part of the economic diplomacy project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and was prepared by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Canberra in cooperation with the CzechTrade office in Sydney.
At Australia's most important energy trade fair All Energy, the Czech exhibition stand featured four Czech companies that brought together Czech art, skills and advanced technical solutions in both the conventional energy sector and in the one based on artificial intelligence and cloud solutions of the 21st century.
Czech conventional and innovative energy technology
The GES Group was represented by two companies. ZVVZ Group a.s. presented technologies for reducing emissions of industrial enterprises and industrial ventilation systems, while VIA ALTA a.s. attracted attention with its unique technology for waste treatment. This technology offers further use of material that so far normally ends up without further use in an incinerator or landfill. The result is a durable material used in the construction industry. The unique technology can also process waste photovoltaic panels at the end of their useful life.
The other two exhibiting Czech companies on the Australian market are represented by Powertech Energy from Adelaide, where one of the directors is a Czech who has been active on the local market for a long time. The first of the companies, Energocentrum Plus Prague, presented its Energy Twin product using artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms for energy savings. This is followed by a product from CTU UCEEB (Czech Technical University, Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings) called PV-Forecast, which predicts the intensity of solar radiation and optimises the performance of a solar power plant based on weather forecasts. Powertech Energy's CEO introduced the two Czech companies at a separate seminar attended by seventy local experts, who particularly praised the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in energy systems.
The Energy Twin product even attracted the attention of a representative of the state institution "Energy Save Victoria", which would like to use it to improve safety standards in the energy sector throughout Australia. During the exhibition, VIA ALTA made contact with a local manufacturer of waste treatment and recycling equipment, whose production plant was visited after the fair. ZVVZ and VIA ALTA also took advantage of the offer of the Czech Honorary Consul to make their own presentation at a social event on the Czech national holiday on 28 October. This gave them the opportunity to meet other business people from Melbourne and representatives of the local municipality.
More Czech footprints in the Australian energy market
Representatives of the Czech companies Sev.en and Photo Energy also visited the Czech stand and shared their experience of operating on the Australian market. Company Sev.en has already completed the acquisition of a coal mine and a power plant in the state of New South Wales and another energy company in the state of Queensland and is in the process of completing the acquisition of a potash mining and processing company in Western Australia. Photo Energy was founded in 2008 in Prague and has grown its operations in both Eastern Europe and Australia. It is currently involved in the construction of the world's largest solar electricity storage facility being built in South Australia in partnership with startup RayGen. And to make the Czech footprint at the fair complete, a separate exhibition stand was set up by ComAp, a Czech company with a global presence that provides smart control solutions for energy production and control.
The project of economic diplomacy with participation at the most prestigious energy fair in Australia fulfilled its purpose. There was very intensive interest in the products of Czech companies. In particular, new technologies and processes aroused a well-deserved response from Australian and foreign potential partners. This is evidenced by the subsequent meetings that took place in several cases immediately after the fair with new Australian partners according to the Czech proverb "forge iron while it is hot".
