Floating concert for Europe to mark CZ PRES

A concert to mark the Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union, with the support of the City of Prague and the Czech Ministry of Culture. The Prague Sounds floating stage provides audiences with the opportunity, once a year, to experience an exceptional concert right on the Vltava river, with historic Prague forming a breathtaking backdrop. The stage is situated in the heart of the city, between the National Theatre and Slovansky Island, on the so-called 'Vltava Mirror' downriver from the Old Town weir (from the year of 1241).

The floating stage first came to be when the organisers of the Strings of Autumn festival reacted to the circumstances of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020 by putting on a concert called 'Hope for Prague,' featuring the british violinist Daniel Hope. The concert attracted the attention of the world's media and provided proof that live music and shared cultural experiences could brighten even the darkest of times.

For the Czech Philharmonic's first-ever concert on the river, the floating stage will be expanded to accommodate 170 participants. The audience capacity will also be increased to enable 1200 people to enjoy the concert, and the beautiful backdrop of historic Prague. The concert can also be enjoyed from the nearby bridges, islands, embankments, and even boats and pedalos on the river itself.

The floating stage is constructed with the cooperation of the Vltava River Authority and the Prague 1 council.
